Thrift Store/Food Bank
We are canceling our volunteering at the Stanwood Food Bank and Thrift Store, folks. They really don’t need any kids to help, we are learning. In fact, it is a wonderful thing to see that our community is so full of helpers that they have more help than they can use! I was hoping that our kids would be kept busy but many days when we go, there is little to do. It’s too bad it didn’t work out. I’m hoping to find other places in Stanwood that might need some kid volunteers. Any ideas?

Thanksgiving
Reminder: next Wednesday we are starting school at 9AM and will release at noon. Have a happy long weekend, feasting and visiting with family!

Social Studies
We have started our study of Colonial Boston. The first photos of our mural are coming soon—you will see it all during your conference, of course. ☺ Be sure to ooh and aah over the mural… your kids really worked hard on it. They are very excited about our unit!

See you all soon,
Julie

Hello Parents! 11.13.09

Conference Reminder
I’ve photocopied the conference schedule and put it in the Friday Packet to confirm our appointment. There is no need to sign or return anything—just come. Your child will be leading the conference, so of course they’ll need to come too.

Progress Reports
The end of the trimester is not until December 4th so progress reports will be prepared and ready to go out on the 16th. I’ll be sharing the small changes to the 5th grade progress report at conferences, but your child’s grades will not be ready until the 16th. Thanks.

Math Groups
Math groups are still going well. Kids have a one-page review homework page each week, due Fridays. Be looking for it!

Auction Project Ideas?
The SES PTA Auction is coming in March, and plans are being made to start gathering supplies for classroom baskets and projects. Last year my class constructed a playhouse. This year I am not as ambitious, but I’m still thinking that some sort of class project is more fun and creative than simply asking for items for a themed basket. Does anyone have any ideas? Contact me!

Social Studies Supplies Needed
We are starting our study of the Colonial Era soon and I’m on the lookout for these donated supplies:
Leather scraps
Floral wire
(loaned) hot glue guns
Indian beads (the tiny ones)
Dark colored felt (black, brown, grey, dark green, navy)
Sequins
Clay- earth tones
Raw wool or loose cotton batting
Fabric scraps
Liquid craft glue
Balsa wood: doweling, sheets, scraps, anything
Shoe- or other small sized cardboard boxes
Wallpaper sample books

Thank you very much for anything you can donate. We start our unit next week.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Julie

Hello Parents! 11.6.09

New Math Unit Monday
We took the Unit Two test today—I’ll have them graded and in the Friday packet next week. Monday we start unit three: Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers and Decimals. Be looking in next week’s Friday Packet for the textbook family letter.

Conferences
I’ve placed confirmation of appointment times in the Friday Packet. I just copied my master schedule with your child’s name written in. If you haven’t signed up for a conference, take the partially filled copy and put yourself in two slots you can make. Sign it and return it Monday. Thanks!

Morning Math Groups
These groups are sailing! Everyone is mastering their math facts so quickly. Only a few are still struggling. I’ll be calling you soon if your child really needs to study more at night. Groups are now working on long division and multi-digit multiplication. One group is moving on to other math topics. Ask your child how things are going!

Absences and Missed Work Policy
If your child has been absent, they will find a ‘We Missed You” folder on their desk with all the work they missed inside. This work should be taken home and worked on. I usually give students ample time to make up missed work by agreeing on a certain due date. I also work with individuals at recess. If you are wondering about your child’s missing work, check first in their binder. If there is nothing there to work on, please give me a call. Thanks!

Food Bank Groups
We formed new groups this week. There are now just three groups of avid volunteers:

A
Cristina
Jared
Felicia
Eveline

B
Angela
Dana
Faith
Shayla

C
Wendy
Tyrna
Kirsten
Shilah

Upcoming Dates
Wednesday, November 11- No School; Veterans' Day
Thursday and Friday, November 19 and 20: No school; conferences
Wednesday, November 25: no late start; out at noon
Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27: no school; Thanksgiving

Peace—
Julie

Food Bank Request

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to put the word out - I was talking to a volunteer in charge of putting the Thanksgiving baskets together at the Stanwood Food Bank and we need 5lb bags of potatoes. If you want to donate more than 5lbs. please keep it in 5lb increments. This will save a lot of time and work. so... if you were thinking of donating this season, this would be very helpful. Since potatoes have to be stored properly and only last so long, we are asking that you make your potato donations between Nov.4th and the 18th.

So tell your friends and co-workers and please pass the potatoes!

If you have any questions you can e-mail me.

Thanks for your kindness,

Irene Stewart

Hello Parents! 10.30.09

Field Trip Driver Paperwork?
We have planned out first field trip for the year, folks. I’m hoping lots of parents are interested in accompanying us! We will be going to Padilla Bay to study estuaries. It’s not until February (11th or 18th, date TBA), but it takes awhile to get approved by the district to be a field trip driver. I sent out the paperwork a few weeks ago and would like to remind any parents who are interested to start that paperwork. If you have any questions, give me a call.

Conferences
I’ve set parent-teacher-student conferences for November 19 and 20. Please find the appointment form in the Friday Packet and get signed up for the three slots of your choice. I fill time slots as forms come back, so if you have a tight schedule, be sure to get it back pretty quick to get your first choice. Thanks! Students are leading part of the conference and must be there.

GEAR
October GEAR calendars are due Monday. Has your child been reading and keeping track? Thanks for supporting this at-home reading challenge.

Harvest Festival Thank you
The SES Harvest Festival at the middle school was a huge success! Thank you so much, those of you who gave of your time and energy to come and help out Friday or Saturday. Kids had a wonderful time and set up was a breeze because so many came to help.

Geometry Quiz 2
Our second geometry quiz has been graded and is in the Friday packet. Most kids are plugging right along, doing homework, learning the concepts and putting them to practice in class. If your child is struggling, however, they may need more support and help. I am working with individuals at recess. Please help out by checking their work and answering questions at home too. I’ve inserted another copy of the math book parent letter with the formulas and vocabulary we are using in class into the Friday Packet. Thank you!

Happy Halloween
Thanks for all the goodies for our class ‘Read and Feed’. We ate like kings, lounged like big fat satisfied lions on the savannah. and read like scholarly monks. What a great way to end the month! ☺

Have a safe and fun weekend. See you Monday!
Julie

Hello Parents! 10.23.09

Harvest Festival Set Up Tonight
I was put in charge of setting up the booths for the festival... and I would love any adult help that is willing and has time after school today! I'm heading over to SMS around 4:30 and we should be done by 9PM at the very latest. Pizza dinner provided.

Harvest Festival Tomorrow
Saturday from 4-8 at Stanwood Middle School is the SES Annual Harvest Festival! This is so much fun for kids. They can wear their costumes, play some great carnival games, win prizes and a cake at the cake walk, and have a yummy junk food (hot dogs, pizza, chips, cotton candy) "dinner". :) Join me!

Read and Feed
Next Friday your child can wear sweats and slippers to school. they can also bring a flashlight, a snuggly blanket or a pillow too (if they can fit it on the bus, that is). We are having a Read and Feed. Send holiday treats if you wish! All afternoon we are going to chill out, read, nosh on whatever treats show up, and maybe tell a scary story or two. :)

Science: Motion and Design
Science is going great. We have been learning how to make technical drawings. Kids have figured out that it takes a lot of patience and effort to make a scientifically accurate drawing! Next up: rubberband-powered vehicles and the transfer of energy from kinetic energy to the energy of motion.

Reading: Response Journaling
One of the things we do in reading is the response journal. As students read their own choices of novels, they are learning to respond to them in writing with our weekly response journaling. These open-ended questions require students to show their understanding of characters, plot, and author's style. Kids are predicting, forming opinions about character's actions, and synthesizing ideas and themes in their books. I grade the entries with a WASL-style rubric. Their journals will be in their binders Monday so check them out after today's journal is graded!

have a peaceful weekend--
Julie

Hello Parents! 10.16.09

GEAR
Our "Get Excited About Reading" Challenge is one month in. There are a number of students who have not brought in their September calendars yet... Is your child one of those kids? If so, you'll find a "Not in GEAR?" reminder slip to be signed by you in the Friday Packet. This challenge is required for kids. It is part of their nightly homework and will greatly affect their reading score too.

Math Unit 2 Begins Monday
Our test for Unit 1 was today. I've been asked by the district to keep the evaluations in a file for analysis, so once I grade them I will send home a photo copy for you to see.
Unit two is called Perimeter and Area. Kids will be learning how to measure rectangles, triangles, and other polygons.

Food Bank/Thrift Store Update
All students have now been at least once to volunteer at the thrift store and food bank. We are finding that at this time of the year, there is not much that needs to be done in the food bank, so kids have been helping straighten up hangers and shelves of merchandise in the store. It is not exciting work, but Mrs. Jeannie Ovenell, the director, assures us that it is a vital and appreciated work we do. A few kids have gotten 'wiggly' with the simple work, so I've asked kids to volunteer only if they are committed to working hard the entire time and staying on task without a lot of extra adult direction. I'm hoping that once the holiday season approaches, we will again be busy in the food bank. It certainly is a sign of the times when the stock in the food bank is low.

Math Intervention Group Changes
Our 30 minute 'intervention groups' for math fact fluency every day have been very fun and effective so far! Kids seem very motivated to memorize their facts. I've seen incredible growth! After our monthly 3-minute math quiz on the multiplication and division facts, kids were moved again from group to group according to what they need. Mrs. Bachand, Mrs. Meitus, Mrs. Tredo, Ms Van Belle and I are using drill, games, and other activities to help kids focus on the nuts and bolts of math every morning.

Read and Feed October 30
Kids are invited to bring treats and wear 'sweats and slippers' Friday October 30. We will be enjoying an afternoon of good books and yummy seasonal treats in our Read and Feed. What a relaxing way to end a busy week.

Fall Festival
Come to the SES Fall Festival held at Stanwood Middle School on October 24 from 4 to 7 PM! I'll be there, costume on and ready to play carnival games, buy a hot dog, and win a cake on the cake walk. Join me! See the flier in the Friday Packet.

Here is a flier for a great parent event coming up. Check it out!

Hello Parents! 10.8.09

Hello Parents!
10.8.09

MAP Testing
MAP, or Measure of Academic Progress, testing is done for the fall. I’m waiting until the ‘testing window’ is closed (October 19) so then I can access and print off your child’s history of scores. This means that you will be able to see their scores and growth over the past years. Look for this in their Friday Packet soon! I’ll have copies at our fall conferences so we can look at them together, too.

Math
We will be finishing up Unit One by next Friday. We will be working pretty hard these next few days. We’ll review the whole chapter and have a formal assessment. Skills: listing factor pairs; completing multi-step equations; answering many types of multiplication and division word problems; completing function tables; solving equations with missing integers; and using multiplication properties to solve equations. Whew! Sounds pretty intense, doesn’t it? Your child has been working on these skills in homework and in class every day (sometimes twice a day). Help them prepare even more by asking them to do their homework independently and checking their work afterwards.

Reading GEAR
Many students have not brought their completed September GEAR calendars to class. Please remind your child to total up their hours and minutes of reading from last month and then bring the calendar to you for a signature. This is a required part of our reading program… and it is rewarding too, with incentives every ten hours read. Thanks for your support. *If your child lost his or her calendar, please write and sign a note with a ‘best guess’ of hours read by your child in September. Thanks.

PTA
So… Have you joined yet? The PTA is a great way to stay involved. It is actually fun for grown ups! and really contributes to our school’s family-oriented atmosphere. PTA also funds many great programs and activities here at Stanwood Elementary.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Hello Parents! 10.2.09

Busy Week. Not much news!

MAP Assessment
We have completed half of our computerized assessment for the fall. When scores come back I’ll send you a copy of your child’s results.

Homework: Spelling
I’m handing out a packet of spelling work next Monday instead of handing out one page per day. It was a paperwork nightmare for everyone last week! The packet will be due Friday morning.

Math Fluency Intervention Groups
Most days we switch kids around and work on math facts. Ask your child about how they are going!

Halloween
Do you celebrate? Let me know. We are having a “Read and Feed” the Friday before Halloween where kids can wear sweats and slippers, bring pillows, and enjoy Halloween treats. More info and a request for treats to come!

October 9 No School
We are having a teacher workday. Enjoy your three-day weekend!

Peace!

Julie

Hello Parents! 9.25.09

Math Homework
Our new math program seems to be coming along nicely so far, at least from a teacher standpoint. Most kids are completing the homework correctly and on time. What are your impressions so far? A few of the lessons coming this next week may be challenging, but I’m hoping to get kids ready to practice independently by the time they come home with their homework each night. Your child will have either a “Homework” worksheet or a “Remembering” worksheet most weeknights. On the rare occasion there is no homework (like last night- Thursday) it’s because we did not get through the entire activity and kids were not ready to work alone on the skill yet. Please keep me updated on your child’s struggles and successes through notes, emails, or calls. I want to be sure that everyone is happily challenged.

Social Studies
We have finished our short unit on American Geography. Come see the beautiful maps your children created! They are on display in the hall. Up next: Early Colonization. We’ll be reading about Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth next week.

Writing: Menus and Memiors
This week we are extending our study of persuasive writing by creating our very own restaurant menus. We are thinking of potential customers and writing to entice them to come eat at our diners with delicious description. What would a restaurant that caters to dogs and cats serve? How about one that is perfect for football players? Kids are having a great time and at the same time developing a personal writing style and ‘voice’.

We also have started to talk about our year-long autobiography project. Students are writing about their lives off and on all year with poetry, essays, narratives, interviews, and stories from their lives. Students have already finished a piece called the AutobioPoem. Each of the kids’ writing will be saved in a binder that will be a keepsake your child will decorate, fill with photos and their own writing, and take home in May. Writing project grade slips come home in the Friday Packet, but kids are keeping their final drafts in their binder in the classroom for now.

Cursive
Our review is pretty much complete. A small group of students still really need to practice at home with the packets I sent home last week. I have already seen improvement, but it just takes more time for some. Keep up the good work, kids (and patient parents). If you need another copy of the packet, your child can find one in our ‘extra copies’ tub in the classroom.

Spelling
We are going back to weekly spelling next week. Expect to see a list home on Monday. Kids will have daily work that they may have to finish as homework. The dictation tests are on Fridays. I’m hoping to add in some optional challenge words soon too.

Food Bank
Our first two small groups have gone to volunteer. They love it and the people at the food bank love us! What a great combination. Here is the schedule for the next couple of months. Remember, kids walk over at noon and come back to the building at 1 PM on their day. Having a cold lunch helps if your family is able to swing it. Kids eat early during writing before they go.

Group A: 9/23, 10/14, 10/30
Jared
Cristina
Dana
Nick
Kirsten

Group B: 9/25, 10/16, 11/4
Makena

Group C: 9/30, 10/21, 11/6

Group D: 10/2, 10/23, 11/13

An idea… for those who are financially able, on days your child volunteers, you may consider donating a can or two to the food bank and have your child hand deliver your donation. No pressure. It’s good for the community and it’s an excellent way to teach your child about the joys of making helping others an everyday thing.

Kinderbuddies
We are pairing up with students in Mrs. Thayer’s kindergarten twice a month on Wednesdays to mentor, read with, and generally make school better for these newest Stanwood Elementary Huskies. Ask your child about his or her buddy. Mrs. Thayer says the kindergartners really benefit from the one-on-one attention. Fifth graders benefit in less tangible, but nonetheless important, ways.

Well, I’ve rambled again, folks. Sorry!
Hope your weekend is sunny and peaceful.

Hello Parents! 9.18.09

Food Bank
As I type, we are getting ready to go tour the food bank and thrift shop. Mrs. Jeanie Ovenell, the director, will be showing us what our jobs will be when we come to volunteer starting next week. Your child will be walking in a small group once every two and a half weeks, either a Wednesday or a Friday, with one of our capable and responsible parent volunteers, Mrs. Shawn Teigen and Mrs. Melanie Sobotta. A permission slip that will cover all walking field trips for the year is in the Friday Packet. Students who bring their slip in first will most likely be part of the first groups to go next week. A schedule will come home soon so kids can plan for their volunteering days. Thank you for your support! If you have any questions or would like to accompany us on our volunteering, please call. The more the merrier!

Intervention Groups
In response to the needs of all 5th graders, our team of grade level teachers and specialists (Mrs. Tredo, Ms. Van Belle, Mrs. Meitus, Mrs. Bachand, and I) have organized a specialized instruction time for math number sense each day. We plan to split the 5th grade into five flexible groups according to math needs and work on multiplication and division fluency and other related skills from 9:20 to 9:50 four days a week. Your child will be challenged and busy! If you have any questions, again, please call. This is going to be great. We hope to see quick progress.

Cursive Handwriting
We are almost done reviewing the cursive alphabet in class. Next week we will focus on capital letters and refining the more difficult letters. If your child is struggling with cursive, you will find a packet of cursive practice pages in the Friday Packet. These packets are for your child and you to do at your own pace at home. They do not need to be returned. After next week we will return to spelling in our morning slot and cursive will be expected of all students on all assignments until they can show mastery and earn their ‘cursive license’. Cursive is not rocket science, kids are figuring out… their writing is improving quickly and they are finding pride in it. ☺

GEAR
I wanted to remind families that kids should be reading at home nightly… and keeping track of the minutes read on their GEAR (Get Excited About Reading) calendar every day. These calendars are due at the end of the month. Kids earn incentives for every ten hours they read. They also show growth and effort in reading, which is a huge part of their reading grade. If your child has not been reading or recording, it is not too late. Get them going on it tonight! Thank you VERY much for your continued support. This is a big one that makes or breaks tweener readers!!!

Peace,
Julie

Community Service Project
Our class motto this year is “Be the change you want to see in this world”. In the spirit of our motto, I’ve contacted the Stanwood Food Bank and Thrift Shop to see if they need any fifth grade volunteers this school year. They are excited about the idea of our kids helping restock the shelves and help in the thrift shop a few times a week. So… with your permission (see the slip in the Friday Packet) I’d like to start sending small groups of students with a parent chaperone on Wednesdays and Fridays during their lunch to volunteer. Your child will be going once every three weeks through out the year. Thank you Shawn Teigen for volunteering to walk the kids the two blocks, supervise their work, and get them back in time for class at 1PM. Our community will be a better place if our children learn from this early age that helping others is a rewarding and valuable thing!
**Note: We are still looking for a parent to help us out long term for the weekly Friday trips. Let me know if this is something you might be able to commit to.

Food Bank Field Trip
We’ll be walking over this Friday at 11:50 AM as a class to be introduced to the director and to see what our volunteering will entail. Want to come? Give me a call.

Spelling
No spelling this next week. Sorry! We have to back up a bit and re-teach cursive handwriting to many students.

Cursive Handwriting
If your child is struggling with the mandatory cursive handwriting, don’t worry. I’ll be re-teaching the alphabet this next week. I will also send some work to do at home to get kids up to speed quickly. Please help reinforce this at home too.

Writing
The job application packet is due Tuesday. Please remind your child that this packet needs to include the short application, a persuasive cover letter, and, if you accept the mission, a short letter of recommendation from you.

Office Paperwork… Friendly Reminder
There are a few families who must have missed some forms that came home in the last Friday Packet. I’m sending extra copies of forms regarding:
--Request for $10 for National Geographic Magazine and class projects
--Student Handbook signature form
--School Student Expectations form

Book Orders
Due Friday, 9.18. Checks only, please, written to Scholastic. Thank you!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello Parents! 9.3.09

Welcome to a New School Year Everyone!

My name is Julie Miller and I’m your child’s teacher this year. I’m very excited to start this, my 17th year of teaching. I’d love to tell you a little about myself.I hold a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with minors in both bilingual education and Spanish.I also have a master’s degree in the area of reading instruction.I’ve taught many subjects and grade levels in three different states but I have to say that 5th grade here in Stanwood is by far my favorite grade and district.I am happily married to a GIS computer programmer… a self-described mapping geek named Craig. We have a 9 year-old son named Søren who is in 3rd grade this year.We live in Mount Vernon.

I’ve been able to meet almost all the families in our room I think, and I want to tell you that I’m absolutely tickled with our class this year. Our first two days went very smoothly and we are starting to get used to new routines and 5th grade expectations.

Parent communication: visit my blog Hello Parents!

Every week I write a short note to families with all the important messages and information about our class. Up till this year, I’ve always sent a paper copy in the Friday Packet along with school papers that goes home with your child. In an attempt to go paperless, I’ll be emailing a link to my blog (http://collaborate.stanwood.wednet.edu/users/jmiller/) right to your inbox each Friday. For those of you who are without internet access, I’ll continue to send this letter in the Friday Packet. The blog will also host photos of your kids in action at school, a calendar of school and classroom events, and maybe even copies of assignments (if I get really organized). Please let me know what you think about it in the comments section!

Math homework

We have a new math series this year, so homework as we have known it will be changing.Gone are the days of weekly homework packets, folks. (Sorry.I know we all loved those, teachers included!)Instead, 5th graders will have homework assigned in class that will be due the next morning. This will not be nightly, but possibly up to three or four times a week. Our goal is to have these important concept practice pages take a half hour maximum. It is our hope that the practice at night will directly support the day’s lesson so kids are ready to move on at a quick pace through our more rigorous curriculum. Please help me by keeping track of the time required for your child to complete the homework so I can adjust the amount assigned on each page.I do NOT want to overwhelm our children, but I do want to press them to do their best.

Spelling

Ok, I’m a bit of a traditionalist as far as spelling goes, people. This trimester I’m trying something new… and old… in Spelling. I’m giving weekly lists, explicitly teaching spelling patterns, and will be testing on Fridays.Sort of like when we were kids.I’m hoping that you families will be able to help your child study their words and the spelling patterns each week with the Fridge List I send home. There will be extra homework only if schoolwork not finished in class.I’ll keep you posted on the progress of your speller!

Reading

We do what’s called Reading Workshop in our class. For those familiar with this from last year, I’ve made just a few changes. We are reading a novel as a class and developing reading strategies.Kids also read novels, non-fiction, and other reading materials in small groups and individually and I confer with them a few times a week.My expectations are that a) kids will read books they LOVE every day; b) they will read at home on a normal basis; and c) they will write about what they read.

GEAR

Check out the At-Home Reading Challenge information page called GEAR: Get Excited About Reading. It is how we keep track of at-home reading and challenge kids to make reading a daily habit. Can your 5th grader read 100 hours or more at home this year?

Writing

We’ve started our first assignment in writing.Kids have been asked to write me a friendly letter telling me about themselves, their families, and their hobbies.Students who were in my class last year may want to tell me about their summer instead. This first assignment is due Tuesday morning and the final draft must be in cursive handwriting.

Back to School BBQ and Open House

Put next Thursday, September 10, 2009 on your calendar.Check out the flyer about it and I’ll see you then!

Thanks for reading this lengthy first Hello Parents.I promise to not be so long winded in future installments!

Welcome Back to School!

Welcome back to school, fifth grader! I’m so glad you are in my class again this year. It’s going to be great-- I’ve been thinking of you all summer, planning and getting things ready for the fall. Our class will be a straight grade 5 this year, as you most likely already know. I hope you will help me welcome our 13 new classmates and make them feel comfortable with how things roll in our class.

You will feel right at home since you were in my room last year, but be prepared for a few changes, too. For starters, we have new math books. I found some awesome new novels for read aloud and book clubs, too. As fifth graders, you also have the autobiography project and Camp Seymour to look forward to!

Here is our new and improved supplies list. I’ve made a few changes—I hope you saved your receipt if you’ve already been shopping. Sorry for any inconvenience this may pose. I have written these supplies in order of priority, with the most important items first, for families who may not be able to buy it all this month because of the growing cost of supplies.

Backpack- no wheels
$10.00 for projects and National Geographic Explorer Magazine subscription (checks payable to SES)
Medium size binder – trapper keepers work great and last all year
Dividers for binder (# of tabs unimportant)
Pencils
Dry erase markers- any color- 8 please! We use them daily and they wear out
Cheap calculator
Glue sticks – 5-10
Fine OR Extra Fine Sharpie marker- black
Notebook paper- wide or college
Colored pencils
Clipboard
Spiral notebook- only one needed
Red pen or pencil for correcting
Zipper pouch if you did not get a trapper keeper
Eraser
Kleenex
Scissors
Pencil sharpener (optional)
Ruler (optional)
No hand sanitizer needed

I will be here August (date TBA) preparing for the start of school. I’d love for you to stop by to say ‘hi’ from (time TBA). Come drop off your supplies and see our room. Parent Volunteers, I’d love some help with a few projects, so if you’re willing, give me a call this week and I’ll put you to work!

School officially starts Thursday, September 3, at 9 AM. Be sure to bring your supplies, a healthy snack, and LOTS of energy. Have a terrific final week of vacation. I’m really looking forward to our new year together!

Parents, I like to keep in contact with everyone via my weekly blog entry at http://collaborate.stanwood.wednet.edu/users/jmiller/. I’ll email you a link each Friday or so like last year. In addition to blog entries, I post homework PDFs and photos from class so check back at that site regularly! I can be contacted via my school email jmiller@stanwood.wednet.edu, my school phone 629-1250 x 2113 or my personal cell, 360-722-0048. Call me anytime before 9PM any day.

See you soon,

Mrs. Miller
